Every Job Should Teach Us Something

I just finished reading the article, "The best roofing companies do not just complete projects - They learn from them", and I thought it was worth sharing here. You can read it yourself here: https://www.rooferscoffeeshop.com/post/the-best-roofing-companies-do-not-just-complete-projects-they-learn-from-them Basketball Bros

The main point is simple: every roofing project teaches us something, but those lessons can easily disappear once the job is finished. Different people may remember different problems or successes, but if nobody takes the time to discuss them, the company may end up making the same mistakes again.

I really agree with this. In roofing, we're often so focused on completing the current job and moving on to the next that we don't stop to ask what could have gone better. Even a short review after a project could help with estimating, scheduling, communication, or jobsite efficiency.

To me, learning from completed jobs is one of the easiest ways for a roofing company to improve over time. You don't always need a major new system or expensive technology, sometimes you just need to sit down, talk about what happened, and make sure the lessons are not forgotten.

I'm curious how others handle this. Do you have any kind of post-job review process, or is it usually straight on to the next project?
