During this Read Listen Watch® (RLW) webinar, Demand IQ’s Austin Rosenbaum and JobNimbus’ Marc Hansen discussed how digital buying habits are reshaping homeowners’ expectations. Consumers accustomed to immediate answers now bring those expectations to roofing research, estimates and contractor communication.
Austin said homeowners increasingly expect contractors to provide information as quickly as other digital services do. He shared, “Instant gratification is shaping consumer expectations and consumers are spending more time online educating themselves before they show up.”
Because buyers conduct much of their research independently, a contractor’s digital presence can influence the sale before anyone answers a phone call. Providing accessible educational content can help the business remain part of that early decision-making process.
Homeowners often want to understand the potential cost of a roofing project before committing to a sales conversation. Marc said pricing information can help answer early questions about affordability, insurance and financing. He explained, “One of the objections for the user is, can I afford this? Do I need to go through insurance or do I pay for this out of pocket? How much is it going to cost?”
An initial price range is not a final proposal, but it can help homeowners determine whether a project is within reach and prepare for a more detailed conversation with the contractor.
Homeowners compare contractors with the best customer experiences they encounter in every industry, not only with other roofing businesses. According to Marc, “They don’t want to be sold. They don’t want to beat around the bush or play phone tag. They want quick answers and a polished, professional experience.”
Reviews, complete business profiles and clear communication options help validate that professional experience. Authentic comments also provide insight from people who have already worked with the contractor.
Meeting modern expectations does not require removing the personal relationship from roofing sales. It means making the path to that relationship faster, clearer and easier to trust.
