A roofing project can showcase craftsmanship, but the experience homeowners have on the ground matters just as much. On this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, host Karen Edwards spoke with The Catch-All’s Chase DeLong and Marianna Conner, along with Acorn Roofing and Construction's Jack Waddell, about how jobsite protection can help contractors stand out while simplifying cleanup.
Acorn Roofing and Construction uses The Catch-All’s large jobsite kit on its projects. Before adopting the system, Jack explained that crews relied on traditional tarps to protect landscaping and surrounding property. Describing the difference, he said, “The Catch-All does a great job of deflecting any debris coming off the roof, protecting windows, window screens and the flower beds. It's really great and it looks extremely professional and shows to everyone that you care.”
That professional appearance can also turn an active jobsite into a marketing opportunity. Marianna explained that contractors can integrate their branding directly into the protection system, saying, “We've got the logo banners, which are able to be mounted directly on the Job Site Protection Kit. And that does your custom branding right on there.” Contractors can also include phone numbers, calls to action, Google review information, core values or QR codes that connect homeowners with online resources.
For Chase, that neighborhood visibility is closely tied to building trust. He emphasized the value of referrals compared with leads that begin without an existing connection, explaining that referrals can compound over time and help contractors build their pipelines for the long term. He noted, “Those referrals compound, they go a lot further than your average leads and build that trust, just continue to build that trust.”
The system can also support crews once they become familiar with the setup. Jack noted that what initially feels like an additional task can quickly become part of an easier cleanup process. Crews can use the durable drop tarps to collect and move debris, turning the system into another jobsite tool rather than an added chore.
Beyond protection and cleanup, that extra care can shape how homeowners view a contractor. Jack said customers are more likely to trust someone who goes above and beyond for them or their neighbors, reinforcing how jobsite practices can influence the overall customer experience.
