style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Emma Peterson.

How QXO is advancing its tech-driven strategy with cross-selling and digital transformation.

In 2025, we brought Matt Fassler, one of the founders of QXO and their chief strategy officer, on for a Read Listen Watch® (RLW) webinar all about “what QXO’s acquisition of Beacon means for roofing contractors going forward.” In that RLW, Matt outlined some of QXO’s plans and goals, and how QXO can add value to the building product space through streamlining operations and introducing new technology. Matt explained:

We like to seek industries that are under-penetrated by technology. We've learned to look to acquire companies that have strong foundations but might need that little bit of help integrating technology to keep up. So, as we looked at the roofing industry, we had some ideas on how to use cutting-edge ideas and cutting-edge technology to run distribution more efficiently and in turn, help our customers improve their businesses.

Now, about 9 months after that conversation with Matt, QXO’s 2026 Investor Q&A gives us insight into where the company is in relation to their goals.

Optimizing cross-selling to streamline operations

One of the big things QXO has invested in since we last spoke is cross-selling. This refers to QXO’s ability to sell products for all parts of the building envelope. As the Investor Q&A put it, “Customers want to save time and reduce friction. The concepts that resonate with them are simplification, accuracy, fewer suppliers and bundled solutions. Our organized approach, aligned sales incentives, better data and targeted technology should make the cross-sell measurable and executable.”

An example of the benefit of cross-selling comes from a recent data-center build, where QXO was able to bundle items related to the envelope, roofing, waterproofing and construction in one package, providing incredible value to the customer.

Incorporating technology to boost value

As for the technological element Matt highlighted in our conversation, QXO has spent the last few months deep diving into how the roofing and construction industries are under-digitized and what can be done to improve. He noted three main ways technology could help the industry:

First, core systems are often outdated or missing entirely — particularly in areas like warehouse management, inventory planning, transportation and CRM. Second, there’s limited focus on the customer’s digital experience, which reduces stickiness and leaves upsell opportunities on the table. Third, technology teams are typically understaffed and over-oriented toward maintenance rather than transformation.

They are actively addressing this by implementing new technologies, including pricing tools (Pricefx), inventory management systems (S&OP), asset management software, AI negotiation agents, cybersecurity enhancements and more!

What’s next

Looking ahead, QXO plans to continue building a cross-selling network and improving technology as they work towards a goal of reaching $50 billion in revenue within the decade. Contractors and other professionals can expect to keep seeing QXO’s name as they expand their jobsite presence through both integrations and M&As.

They can also look forward to the roll out of a fully integrated digital platform in 2027. This is planned to incorporate enterprise resource planning (ERP), point-of-sale (POS), warehouse management (WMS), transportation management (TMS), human resources management (HRIS), procure-to-Pay (P2P) and last mile delivery features.

Overall, the goal is to make QXO into an advanced construction product ecosystem that “dramatically improves productivity, pricing, inventory and the customer experience.”

Dataforma and QXO team up to reduce manual processes and strengthen supplier communication.

Commercial roofing contractors have long asked for tighter integration between business management software and supplier ordering systems. Now, a new integration between Dataforma and QXO aims to simplify that process by connecting estimating, purchasing and project management workflows in one platform.

In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Karen Edwards spoke with Brian Cook, COO of Dataforma, and Gabriela Fornino, e-commerce change manager at QXO, about how customer demand helped drive the collaboration and what the integration means for contractors managing increasingly complex operations.

Brian said the idea grew naturally from conversations with contractors already using both platforms. “Knowing that we worked with such a large number of commercial roofing contractors, it was a natural fit,” Brian explained. “Within a few months we had an agreement and we were moving.”

The integration allows contractors to create requests for pricing, generate purchase orders and manage project costs directly within Dataforma without switching between systems or manually reentering information.

Gabriela said the goal was to eliminate repetitive tasks while maintaining the relationships contractors value with their suppliers. “We took it and cut steps in half that people were taking in Dataforma previously,” Gabriela said. “It’s not replacing any relationship that you have or the amount of communication that you would have with the team over at QXO. It’s just doing it in a different channel and format.”

The integration also gives contractors access to QXO’s product catalog and pricing tools during the estimating phase, helping teams develop tighter project estimates before converting them into purchase orders.

Brian noted that user feedback played a critical role throughout development. “My whole role now at Dataforma is constantly talking to our contractors and asking, ‘What do you need?’” Brian shared. “If you don’t have eyes on it, by the time it goes out, you’re missing 10 or 15%.”

For QXO, contractor input was equally important. “If it’s a product for contractors, it has to be made in part by contractors,” Gabriela said. “Unless it’s efficient in the hands of the user who’s going to be using it day in and day out, that’s what matters most.”

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Jenny Yu.

By prioritizing customer service and distributor relationships, ASC is building long-term value for contractors and partners.

ASC Building Materials is doubling down on a values-driven strategy centered on distribution partnerships and customer-first service, positioning itself for continued growth in the competitive roofing market.

At the 2026 International Roofing Expo, Megan Ellsworth spoke with Sales Director Gabe Rodriguez about the company’s long-standing commitment to working through trusted distribution channels. “We don’t sell direct,” Gabe said. “We heavily believe in partnership through distribution. We truly value our partners; they’re amazing for us.” That approach includes key relationships with major distributors such as SRS Distribution, ABC Supply and QXO, along with regional partners that help ASC reach contractors where they do business.

Gabe emphasized that while ASC continues to expand its product portfolio from coatings to self-adhered membranes and sealants, its competitive edge lies in a company constant. “Product is product, but it’s the customer service you get at the end of the day that’s going to make you want to come back,” he explained of ASC’s commitment to its customers.

That philosophy extends to how ASC supports contractors beyond the sale. Through initiatives like its contractor certification program, the company aims to equip customers with the tools, knowledge and confidence to grow their businesses. Gabe noted that ASC takes pride not only in supplying materials but also in contributing to contractor success. “Even watching them grow their business is amazing to see,” he said. “When someone grows, we all grow.”

Trade shows also play a key role in reinforcing ASC’s customer-centric approach. Events like the International Roofing Expo and upcoming appearances at the Western Roofing Expo provide opportunities to reconnect with partners, gather feedback and better understand contractor pain points. “The shows are great to see customers you don’t see on a regular basis,” Gabe said. “It’s a laid-back platform where you can just talk, see how they’re doing and ask what’s next for them.”

As ASC continues to grow, its focus remains clear: strengthen distribution relationships, prioritize service and meet customers where they are.

The SkillsUSA 2026 Championship will connect students, educators, contractors and manufacturers through hands-on skilled trades competitions.

After a year of honing their skills and participating in local competitions, students from across the country are set to compete at the culminating event: the SkillsUSA 2026 Championship. Taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from June 1-5, 2026, the event brings together more that 6,700 state champions competing across 114 skilled and leadership contests as part of the broader National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC).

On top of providing the platform for students to compete and showcase their talent, the SkillsUSA program builds the next generation of skilled professionals and elevates the value of careers in the trades. Roofing continues to expand its presence at the event as students can explore career opportunities and compete in roofing-related challenges including Commercial Roofing and Teamwork. According to the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), the competitions are designed to connect career and technical education students with real-world industry opportunities while helping address the skilled labor shortage facing roofing contractors nationwide.

Here at RoofersCoffeeShop®, we are excited to be a sponsor of the NRCA Roofing Pavilion, the event’s central hub for students and CTE teachers to connect with industry professionals on training and career opportunities.

Additional sponsors supporting the NRCA booth include ABC Supply, Central States Manufacturing, Georgia-Pacific Building Products, Johns Manville, Elevate™, IB Roof Systems™, Leister, National Roofing Partners, National Women in Roofing (NWIR), QXO, Roofing Alliance, Roofing Technology Think Tank (RT3), SRS Distribution and TAMKO®. This robust participation reflects industry-wide collaboration to help SkillsUSA continue to grow as a pipeline for skilled professionals entering the trades.

The SkillsUSA Championships have become a critical recruiting and education platform for the roofing industry. NRCA notes if even 5% of SkillsUSA students entered roofing careers, the industry could gain more than 5,000 new workers annually.
